Welcome! Whether it’s your first family session or your tenth, this page answers the most common questions about what to expect when booking your family photography session in Bend, Oregon. My goal is to make your experience easy, relaxed, and full of genuine connection.

About Your Session

How long does a family session last?

Most family sessions last 45–60 minutes, depending on your group size and how quickly everyone warms up. I keep sessions fun and easy-going — we’ll laugh, play, and capture those in-between moments that tell your family’s story.

How many images will we receive?

You’ll receive 30 - 65 (depending on package) fully edited, high-resolution images in a private online gallery. You can download, share, and print them freely. If you’d like more than 30 images, you’ll have the option to purchase the full gallery after viewing your proofs.

Do you photograph large or extended families?

Absolutely! I love photographing multi-generational families — grandparents, cousins, and all. I’ll help organize group combinations and capture both candid and posed moments so everyone’s included.

Where do sessions take place?

I photograph families all around Central Oregon — from open meadows in Sunriver to mountain views in Sisters and riverside trails in Bend. You can also choose a meaningful location like your home, a family cabin, or one of my favorite local spots such as:

• Shevlin Park — for golden meadows and pine trees

• Drake Park — for water reflections and evening light

• Sparks Lake — for mountain backdrops and adventure vibes

• La Pine State Park — for quiet, forested family moments

Can we choose our own location?

Yes! I love when families pick spots that feel personal — your backyard, a local trail, or your favorite picnic area. If you’re unsure, I’ll suggest options based on lighting, scenery, and accessibility.

Before the Session

What should we wear?

Stick with neutral or earth-toned colors that complement Oregon’s natural landscape — think soft beige, sage green, dusty blue, cream, or rust. Avoid heavy patterns or logos. I also send every client a styling guide after booking to help coordinate outfits for your family’s vibe.

What if the weather changes?

We’re in Oregon — weather is part of the adventure! If it’s just light rain or clouds, we’ll likely continue (the light is beautiful and moody). If it’s heavy rain or wind, I offer a free reschedule to the next available date.

When is the best time for outdoor family photos?

The best light in Bend is early morning or golden hour before sunset.
Summer and fall evenings (June–October) are my busiest months for warm, glowing sessions. Winter photos can also be magical with snow and evergreen backdrops!

Do you offer indoor or lifestyle sessions?

Yes — I offer in-home lifestyle sessions for families with newborns or young children. These sessions are calm, intimate, and focused on real connection in your everyday environment.

Newborn & Young Children

Do you photograph newborns?

Yes! My newborn photography sessions are lifestyle-based — no heavy props or studio posing. I’ll come to your home in Bend, Sunriver, or anywhere in Central Oregon, and we’ll document your family naturally: cuddles, feedings, tiny details, and all.

What’s the best age for newborn photos?

Ideally, within the first 2–3 weeks after birth, but every baby is different! If your little one is older, that’s perfectly fine — I capture whatever stage you’re in with the same warmth and care.

Can siblings and pets be included?

Absolutely! Siblings, grandparents, and pets are always welcome — they’re part of your story. I’ll help guide the flow so everyone feels relaxed and included.

Booking & Delivery

How do I book a session?

You can book directly through my Contact Page or by messaging me through Instagram @wildpinesphotographyoregon. A $100 non-refundable deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due the day of your session.

When will we get our photos back?

I send sneak peek photos within 48 hours of the shoot. The final gallery is delivered within 3-4 weeks, depending on the season. You’ll receive a link via email with high-resolution downloads and print rights included.

Do you offer prints or albums?

I have great print and framing recommendations - just ask!

What if we need to reschedule or cancel?

Life happens — I get it! You can reschedule your session once at no cost with at least 48 hours’ notice. If you need to cancel entirely, your retainer can be applied toward a future session.
