A Faith-Filled Fall Wedding at Historic Skyline Lodge in Bend, Oregon
Tucked away among the towering pines of Central Oregon, the historic Skyline Lodge in Bend was the setting for Brit and Kelly’s beautiful late-October wedding. Surrounded by the golden colors of autumn and their closest family and friends, the couple celebrated a day rooted in faith, love, and meaningful family traditions. From exchanging private vows and praying together in the woods to digging up a bottle of bourbon buried a month earlier for good luck, every detail reflected their personalities and the life they've built together. Their sweet 15-month-old son, Wayne, made the celebration even more special, as Brit and Kelly began their next chapter as husband and wife.
A Beautiful Fall Wedding at Skyline Lodge in Bend, Oregon
Nestled among the trees in Central Oregon, the historic Skyline Lodge provided a beautiful backdrop for Brit and Kelly's October wedding. With the natural beauty of Bend surrounding them, the couple celebrated alongside their closest family and friends.
The day was centered around God, with faith woven into the most meaningful moments of their celebration. Rather than rushing through the day, Brit and Kelly made intentional space for quiet moments together, family traditions, and time with the people they love most.
Their sweet 15-month-old son, Wayne, was also part of the celebration. He was an absolute angel throughout the entire event, making an already special day even sweeter.
A Private First Look, Personal Vows, and Prayer in the Woods
One of the most memorable moments of Brit and Kelly's wedding day happened before the ceremony, tucked away in the beautiful woods surrounding Skyline Lodge.
The couple chose to share an intimate first look away from their guests. Surrounded by the peaceful autumn landscape, they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day and took a moment to simply be together.
During their first look, Brit and Kelly exchanged private vows and shared a prayer, just the two of them. It was a beautiful reflection of their relationship and the importance of keeping God at the center of their marriage.
As a Bend, Oregon wedding photographer, these are some of my favorite moments to document. There is something so meaningful about capturing a couple when they can slow down, be completely present, and share their emotions without an audience.
A Southern Wedding Tradition: Burying the Bourbon for Good Luck
One of the most unique details of Brit and Kelly's wedding was a family tradition involving a bottle of bourbon.
A month before their October wedding, the couple buried a bottle of bourbon as part of a Southern wedding tradition believed to bring good weather and good luck on the wedding day.
And with such a beautiful October day in Bend, Oregon, it certainly seemed to work!
After the wedding ceremony, Brit and Kelly dug up their buried bourbon, carrying on a family tradition that added a little extra personality and fun to their celebration.
I love when couples incorporate traditions that have been passed down through their families. These personal details tell a story beyond the wedding itself and make the day even more memorable.
