A Boho Wedding in the Oregon Woods
There is something especially magical about getting married beneath towering Oregon trees, with sunlight filtering through the branches and the sound of a river running nearby. Kayla and David’s wedding at Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge in Molalla, Oregon was exactly that—a laid-back, bohemian wedding surrounded by forest, water, and the people they love most.
Tucked into the wilderness outside Molalla, Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge sits among old-growth forest at the confluence of Trout Creek and the Molalla River. The property includes forest trails and gathering spaces along the water, making it one of those Oregon wedding venues that already feels beautiful before a single decoration is added.
Kayla and David leaned into the natural setting rather than trying to transform it.
The entire day had a wonderfully unfussy, bohemian feeling—flowing dresses, colorful details, greenery, warm summer light, and a wedding celebration tucked into the woods. It felt much more like gathering everyone you love for an incredible day outside than stepping into a traditional ballroom wedding.
And that's exactly why I love photographing weddings like this.
As an Oregon wedding photographer, some of my favorite celebrations are the ones where the landscape becomes part of the story. At Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge, you're surrounded by huge trees, moss, trails, open spaces and the Molalla River. The lodge describes the property as an old-growth forest filled with Douglas firs, broadleaf maples and yew trees, with wildlife moving through the surrounding river ecosystem.
